Well, third party packages under the vendor controlled installation. I avoid vendor installed Perl, Python, whatever because they are often tailored for the vendor's predilection. Perl might be installed under Ubuntu with or without compile-time options that you wish to avoid or include. My choice since I discovered perlbrew and Python virtual environments has been to "compile" separate installations for each project that I am working on. I use MacPorts to install my own version of Perl, then lib::local to replicate the joy of virtualenvwrapper. I have never used VPN with an Airport base station, mostly because I have yet to host my own blog (I tend to switch everything off when I sleep or leave the house). So I can't comment on the problems you have had with BTMM vs VPN. On the other hand I will acknowledge the pain of finding a particular operating system advertising services and then telling you that you can't use them :) _______________________________________________ MacOSX-admin mailing list [email protected] http://www.omnigroup.com/mailman/listinfo/macosx-admin
