I installed Mavericks earlier in the week and much to my dismay all
of the nameserver stuff was deleted. i.e. no named was to be found and
all of the support files were deleted.

Fortunately I was able to pull the relevant files from a backup
and get going again.

Also a couple of files that supported the built-in VPN were no longer
present and had to be restored.

Mavericks also deleted all of the files in the Python site-packages
folder that I was using. Again a quick restore from a backup fixed
the problem.

****

I run a local name server so I can email reports back to my main
work computer on my lan.

Nslookup uses the name server ok but Safari seems to have problems.

Sometimes I can access local web pages using the local machines fqdn and
sometimes this fails and then sometimes it has no problem displaying
web pages for local machines on my lan.

Does Safari do something wonky with name to ip lookups?

Thanks,

Jerry
