So you're using a version of Mac OS X that is _older_ then the version
that shipped with your Mac?
I guess you're lucky it boots at all.
I have also started from the external firewire hard drive,
then from Macbook in firewire mode, same result.
And what happens when you boot from 10.6.2, the OS that came installed
on the machine?
This is not the question. According to Apple, the machine boots with
10.5.5 and up
