Hi: My wife (who is in publishing/design) is having a problem with Fonts on her MacBook Air (running 10.5.8) and Quark Express version 8.
She describes it this way: When I open older files in the upgraded version of Quark 8, it replaces instances of Helvetica (most notably bold and italics) with a font called Helvetica CE. This font does not seem to exist on my computer other than in Quark. It is not listed in FontBook, nor does it show up when I search the entire computer for Helvetica CE. Even worse, while all the Helveticas (non-CE) are installed in FontBook and work in other programs, some, including Helvetica regular, bold and italic, are NOT accessible in Quark. Of course, Helvetica CE shows up as an option every time. This means I cannot simply go through the older files and replace Helvetica CE with the correct fonts, because they are not available to me in Quark. I believe it all started when I upgraded to Quark 8. I'm not a font expert, and don't really know where to look to figure out where these fonts are, why they (Helvetica - non-CE) don't show up in Quark, etc. I can find the font files. When I try to import them into FontBook, they are greyed out. They don't import into Quark either. Quark Tech Support is also at a loss. I am hoping that I can impose on the expertise of this group to point me in the right direction to help figure this out. Any help is very much appreciated... Thanks! --Jeff
