Sure, I only follow people I am interested in. That's still somewhere in the 
neighborhood of 500+ people. I might go five or even six hours without checking 
twitter (got to sleep sometime, I suppose). I'm not going to go back and read a 
couple thousand tweets from the last 6 hours.

Heck, there are some DAYS I don't check twitter.
