In the voiceOver Utility under Speech/pronunciation there is listed 802.11b => 8 oh 2 eleven b 802.11g => 8 oh 2 eleven g
and they are both set for "All Applications" However, when I highlight them and tell the Mac to 'speak text" it says "8 hundred two point one one bee" So, the VoiceOver 'corrections' doesn't apply to the rest of the system. So I turn on voice over just for kicks and highlight "802.11b" and it says "8 zero 2 point one one b". Is there anywhere else I can tell the Mac how to correctly say something (I have a couple of users on the computer whose names OS X mispronounces). I have put correct pronunciations in the VoiceOver utility, and they work in voice over (unlike the 802.11b or g), but not in general when I highlight text and use the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" key combo. And not when I have the command line command say speak their name, or when appleScript says their name. Is there anyway to get the rest of the system to say things correctly? -- What the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys?
