I've noticed that if I use a large degree of zoom in, the text gets
very blurry on the edge.

If I turn off text smoothing, then the color banding on the edge is visible.

I know the color banding is sub-pixel rendering, to make the text look
sharper on an LCD display, but when I zoom in, instead of giving me
zoomed pixels (just a few on the edge), it gives me zoomed sub-pixles
(lots, and as color); this seems to be what makes the text blurry.

Is there a way to improve this, to make zoomed text look better?
