I don't know if the symptoms are the same but I have long had similar issues when having a large number of open windows would lead to problems with the system -- windows not displaying correctly, etc. Goes back several OS X versions for me and back to my G5 at least. I don't have enough windows open usually to have the issue appear but every once in a while my open window count will grow to where I start to see problems.
