I did not realize you could even do that. With my current DVR, which I use just like an old VCR, that's all I do. The TV Guide stuff is no longer supported on this Panasonic DVR, so I must hand code the day, time, and channel. Relative to what I'm used to, if I could do the same with a TiVo and get HD (for the unencrypted cable channels), I would consider getting one without the subscription. Are you sure this is possible? That is, without paying more to my cable provider or to TiVo, should I be able to manually set recording timers to capture unencrypted HD shows?
