This is a totally stupid way for a multithreaded, multiwindow, multitabbed 
application to operate. The modal window should apply to a single tab only -- 
namely, the one that launched the modal panel. (Sometimes I've not been able to 
find the modal panel, and have to resort to Force Quitting the app. Very 
annoying.)
