I was just searching for "why" Apple locks files automatically after two weeks (especially when versions are automatically saved etc.) and came across discussion of this menu, which I was not previously aware of: ![]() When you have made changes to a file you can right click on the new text after the filename in the Window title bar and get the above menu. I am not sure why "Revert to Last Saved Version" only appears in this "contextual menu" and not in the "File" menu but there you go. Apple elsewhere write: Revert to Last Saved / Opened Versions–You can easily undo recent changes. If you’re not happy with the changes you made, choose "Revert to Last…", then click the confirmation sheet and your document reverts to its state when you last saved or opened it. So you can experiment freely, knowing you can always start again from the top.
