Hi,

About 5 years ago, I came across a command that could be used to speed up Apple
Mail by "vacuuming" its Envelope Index. The version of the command that I used
(which was published on bbum's weblog) was:

/usr/bin/sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/Envelope\ Index vacuum

After first quitting Mail, one would run the above command from the Terminal.
Usually Mail seemed a little to a lot speedier after doing this.

This procedure was still possible in Snow Leopard, but in Lion I don't see a
file called "Envelope Index" in the Mail subdirectory of my Library directory.
In fact, about the only thing I see is a V2 directory (and it does not contain
a file called Envelope Index).

I was just curious -- is this sort of thing still useful in Lion? If so, how
is it accomplished?

Thanks,

Gregg
