What's strange is that if you receive an attachment in Mail, you get the option to "Open With..." some other application. It's like Mail is a surrogate file system. Bizarre, of course. Until there's a 1:1 correspondence between apps across all devices, I don't see how the file-app exclusivity binding, and particularly vis-a-vis iCloud, is going to work. I know they are trying to eliminate the file system, but thus far, it's not convincing.
