It's playlist support is terrible, it crashes all the damn time, it doesn't 
pick up changes in audio output, it has a byzantine mass of controls and can be 
very difficult to scrub the time line unless you memorize several different hot 
keys.

That said, I use it every day as it is easily and clearly the best player out 
there.

Movist is a bit nicer, but not nearly as complete a solution as VLC.
