Rebuild of the mail box worked well the first time. After I opened Mail later there were fewer emails listed. Rebuild, even fewer. Restart and same happens.
So I spent all day yesterday trying migration again from the source mac and it would hang, forever. Tried this a few times after again repairing permissions, deleting some stuff, etc. Same result. Used CarbonCopyCloner to copy my User folder over, which it did with little trouble except having to fix permissions. Mail however would crash on opening. Ended up deleting this gmail account from Mail and everything fine......I hope! Would have been nice had I found this earlier.
