HL stands for something laser.  Their all-in-ones are MFCs (multi-function 
something — copier? color?).  DW means duplex and wireless.  N is wired 
network, T is extra trays.

I’ve been buying Brothers exclusively for 20 years.  I find that HPs are 
accompanied by too much Windows-style software bloat, and a Nazi-ish 
requirement that you do everything (from setup to photo processing) HP’s way 
instead of the way the Mac OS does it.  Their physical printing technology is 
first-class, but their software architecture is abominable.  Conversely, 
Brothers set up and run like Apple manufactured them.
