LOL - While I'd love to put my money on the tin-hat line, that was an AWEsome tip on the conflict scanner - I had no idea that was there. It found my network listed twice (2.4 and 5GHz), with the same exact name. Not sure whether that's normal or not, but I renamed the 5GHz version, and set the channels for both manually while I was at it (since the scanner also recommends "best" channels).
After AEX restart, I rescanned. Now the network only shows up once in the scanner (odd) but both networks appear in the WiFi menu extra. So I joined the 5GHz version, and watched as Airport Utility rediscovered everything. It came right up, all green, all functional. Not sure I understand what changed at some point in the past to cause this, but great to find a solution. Thanks guys - this list is the best. ./s On Mon, Apr 27, 2015 at 12:48 PM, Matt Penna <[email protected]> wrote: > On Apr 27, 2015, at 3:12 PM, Karl Kuehn <[email protected]> wrote: > > > 1) The hardware on one of the basestations has started to go hurting the > antenna performance. > > > > 2) Your neighbor has put in something that is messing with that spectrum > making communication much for difficult. > > My money is on number 2, though I've seen both of these problems. > > Even though the Airport is supposed to choose intelligently based on > surrounding wireless traffic when set to an "Automatic" channel, sometimes > you're better off making the choice manually.
