I am attempting to debug a java program with JVisualVM. Sometimes it works. Other times, I get messages like attach: task_for_pid(4756) failed (5) and the debugger can't read the program.
What can I do? What causes this? I have verified that both the terminal launching jvisualvm, and the eclipse running the program, are launched from the same instance of finder (no chance that it died and restarted), and that should ensure the same bootstrap context, so they should be allowed to see each other. Java 7 v 72.
