OK, so I have the same iCloud account on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, and MacBook Pro.

Everything is fine, except on the MacBookPro which has a much different list of
contacts (many contacts that are on the other machines are not on the MBP).

If I disable iCloud on the MBP in Contacts, then all the contacts disappear.
When I enable it, the contacts reappear, but only the ones that were on the MBP
before.

If I quit and relaunch Contacts, then I get an error icon which when clicked
gives the super helpful error:

IT WOULD BE A MILLION TO ONE CHANCE, said Death. EXACTLY A MILLION TO
ONE CHANCE. 'Oh,' said the Bursar, intensely relieved. 'Oh dear. What a
shame.' --Eric
