The Seagate HDD I replaced was not the original one that came with the iMac, 
but was the one it had been running fine with for the last few years. So the 
new HDD of the same type should be a plug-in replacement without issues. And it 
seems to be, just as long as I'm running Sierra.

I've started the Apple hardware probe over an hour ago, it's still only 3/4 
done with the "hardware probe" before testing begins. Looks like I'll have to 
let it run overnight. Hope it's not stuck.
