I am attempting to print to an Epson printer (a 2200) connected via Bonjour.

Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance. The print queue program says "stopped – 'filter' failed, 1 page".
