Is there a way to check if something is plugged into a USB port using either perl or the terminal app? I want to suck the data out of my Garmin eMap. Right now, OSX doesn't "See" my SanDisk Compact Flash Card reader that's plugged into the USB port, but even without a driver the Mac should know something is there shouldn't it?
