That's grossly unfair.
Docs to NetInfo and whatnot are simply not done because Apple hasn't
found the resources to take care of it yet. There have been far more
pressing issues to deal with in getting Mac OS X out the door that than
one, though it's certainly an important thing to do. But the docs team
has a lot to do right now, since NetInfo is not the only new thing to
Apple in OS X. For what it's worth, any NeXT docs you find on NetInfo
are still pretty accurate.
As to supporting hacks to "stretch the system", I think it's fair for
Apple to worry about making the system work well before they worry about
letting you mangle it up as you please. The fact is that it's not that
hard to hack on such things, and though it's not documented, it's not
all that hard to figure out.
But I'm realizing this has nothing to do with perl, nor case
sensitivity, so I'll shut up now.
