Since this question was previously raised on the list, I'm posting the
answer now that I can.

Ok.  Now I can :-)

(As an aside, BBEdit has line-feed agnostic perl tools. This means you
can use the same scripts and filters that you use on 9 on X and vice
versa with doing line feed magic everytime you reboot into the other OS.
You can also syntax check and run unsaved documents - try that with the
comand line tools :-)

We are pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of
BBEdit version 6.1. This new version is available as a free update for
registered owners of BBEdit 6.0, and features the following
improvements:

+ runs as a native application on Mac OS X (version 10.0 required,
    10.0.1 strongly recommended). Mac OS 7.5.5 through 9.1 are also
    supported, with a recommendation of Mac OS 8.6 or later;

+ on Mac OS X, offers robust integration with the Unix Perl tools via
    BBEdit's existing user interface for Perl scripts and filters, plus
    quick access to Perl reference information from within BBEdit;

+ enhanced FTP support, featuring new FTP Browsers for easier access
    to files on remote FTP servers, as well as the ability to specify
    alternate port numbers for FTP (allowing the use of port reflectors
    and SSH tunnels);

+ optional display of "hard" line numbers in soft-wrapped text
    documents, to facilitate working with hard-line-numbered results
    returned by Unix tools and other non-wrapping-aware software;

+ support for Emacs-style keyboard equivalents for basic editing
    commands;

+ the usual array of bug fixes and minor enhancements.

A detailed list of additions and fixes included in this update can be
found on our Web site:
