I may have missed a message or two in your discussion of foreign accents, but how do
you display Unicode-encoded accented-characters in Terminal? Is this just a question
of changing character-encoding in Terminal? If so, how do you do that?
#!/usr/bin/perl -wprint "hello \x{00E9}ric\n"; # displays 'hello ric' in Terminal,
which is wrongprint "hello ric\n"; # displays 'hello ric' in Terminal, which is
correct, but this code is not portable since the '' will not translate correctly to
Windows or other Unixes.
