Thanks for the tip Mike. I did get as far as a print error when I tried to run something like this from the terminal: Print -Mtxt /test.txt I found I could create an AppleScript that I could run with perl to open and print a file from InternetExplorer, but that didn't solve my problem because I don't know how to pass a variable (the filename) to the AppleScript and I did not figure out how to tell IE to print the active window.
