I run OSX with no swap disk/file on a relatively low spec machine (bottom end imac) and have had no problems whatsoever with memory management in OSX, compared to a daily crash on OS9. I run many memory crunching aps simultaneously, and the most memory crunching ones are run using classic.....(eg matlab and maple).
Although I am not sure the reasons for you posting it on tthis list when there are much more appropriate "general" MacOSX lists/usenet groups out there...... A.
