Other than install MacOS X on a UFS file system--no.

Just save a copy of the old head, and replace HEAD with head when the 
install is done.  I assume something uses HEAD, but I don't know 
what--I just renamed it HEAD.pl.

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept
