I had the same problem.
Found if you change the permissions of the Folder where you want to write to, to 775, It worked.

terminal command --->    chmod 775 filename.pl

I am new also but is seem to work.

Greetings all,

I'm new to the list, and I have a simple question (which hopefully will be
simple to solve).

For some reason, when I try to use the open() function to create a new file,
it doesn't work. It will open a pre-existing file just fine, but if you
enter a file that doesn't exist, instead of creating a new one it simply
does nothing.

Any ideas? I'm running the standard version of perl that ships with 10.3.

Thanks,
