Since couple of years, I use MacPort to install ImageMagick, and then manually install the Perl resources (from the current ImageMagick tarball). A couple of modifications of Makefile.PL are necessary in order to point to the correct libraries and headers from MacPort location (/opt/local/....). Can share more details offline if necessary.
