[MacPerl] GD.pm on OSX

Has anyone installed GD.pm on OSX yet?

I've tried a few times and GD.pm complained that libgd and libpng are out of
date.  I've installed pre-compiled binaries of both of these that I got from
http://www.mosxsw.com/port/. They look to me like the latest versions.
Anyone have a clue as to what I'm doing wrong?
