But "Icon", without the newline, is not a reserved name. You can create
a file or folder with that name, and it won't overwrite the folder's
icon file. So chomping the filename is not a proper solution.

And you can easily make a file or folder with the name ".". THere's
nothing special about it. For example, in a Finder window, press
command-N, type a dot for the name, and press enter. There. A normal
folder, with the name ".".
