Hello Now I have found the key point of the problem. I have allways had the perl code and the files on a sever volume. After I copyed all to the local disk it worked fine, the infile and the outfile were identical. I tested it with MacPerl 5.2.0r4 and 5.6.1b4 which I have installed in the meantime.
The server volume is on a Sun with Helios EtherShare 2.5. Does someone know something about problems with EtherShare volumes?
