The two programs that we use in our mom and pop desktop publishing business on our Macs the most are both music programs from MOTU (AudioDesk - multi-track recording and Mosaic - music notation). These are copy protected and have not been ported to OS X. No plans have been announced for such a port. I believe they use MACE copy protection. All reports I have heard or read warn against trying to install them on OS X's Classic. Does anyone know a work around to get MACE protected programs to work in Classic? We have well over a thousand musical arrangements saved in Mosaic's file format. None of the other music notation applications, such as Finale and Sibelius, can read these files. I know that eventually we will have to deal with this transitioning problem but the Mac we want to replace is a six year old PowerComputing clone so I figure I can put that off and transition into programs that work in OS X over the next five or six years. In the meantime, I have made PICT copies of all the arrangements that we publish. I have pasted these PICTs into AppleWorks and print our books from that. MacPerl and KeyQuencer (a scriptable macro program) have been of great help in automating our publishing business and at this point are indespensible. I'm glad to hear that MacPerl works in Classic. I don't know if KeyQuencer works in Classic and have not heard if it will be ported to OS X. Because of all of this we will be purchasing a new Mac within the next few weeks and I will be using MacPerl for years to come. David Seay http://www.mastercall.com/g-s/ P.S. Does anyone know how sharp the resolution of the iMac display is at lower resolutions than the default? Since this is getting further off topic pleas reply off list. Thanks.
