Actually, Mac OS X works fine on a 7500/7300/7600/8500/8600/9500/9600 and 
clones with XPostFacto freeware.  I run 10.1.5 on my 7500/225 (604e).  
10.2 is said to need a G3 or G4 accellerator to work.

So is X (or specifically Perl on X) would be a better solution for you, 
it IS possible.
