No I don't think so.
But maybe we should be getting in the habit of always using
"depends_foo-append" instead of "depends_foo".
Would it make sense in that case to make depends_foo do depends_foo-
append, by default (and add depends_foo-reset for variants that might
need to supersede *all* dependencies instead of removing specific ones
with depends_foo-delete) ?
