You mean something like <http://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/RunningTrunk> The howto page at <http://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto> has seen some recent improvements, so have a quick look at least. I think this definitely reinforces the point that it should probably have a prominent link at www.macports.org.
