Powerbook G4 running 10.5.6
Because my attempt to upgrade Gnucash mangled things, I wiped out Macports by doing 
) for installing Gnucash as Aqua only (without hbci, ofx, or quotes). There was one hick-up in the installation which maybe means the uninstall directions need correction. ---> Installing dbus @1.2.12_4 ---> Activating dbus @1.2.12_4 Error: Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error: /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist already exists and does not belong to a registered port. Gnucash finished installing and left me the following message. ---> Activating gnucash @2.2.8_0+no_x11+without_hbci+without_ofx+without_quotes Warning: When you run gnucash, if it pops up a window saying: Warning: An error occurred while loading or saving configuration Warning: information for gnucash. Warning: it is probably because it cannot connect to Warning: the DBus server. Either place the following in your login Warning: shell profile: Warning: eval `dbus-launch --auto-syntax` Warning: or invoke gnucash via 'dbus-launch gnucash'. Note that with Warning: the latter alternative you may end up with a stray dbus Warning: process after you quit gnucash. ---> Cleaning gnucash
Sure enough, Gnucash spit out the error above so I edited the .profile in my home directory and added the line directed.
Opening a new terminal window now causes the following error message. Failed to start message bus: Check-in failed: Permission denied
EOF in dbus-launch reading address from bus daemon
I didn't remember any discussion of this on the list, but there is a track discussion which I found just now, so this part is fixed. Just restart the computer.
