I followed your instructions and the lead up to the first error seems to be below

Could you please clean and try again with debug output enabled? MacPorts only prints the last 30 or so lines of error output, but I believe the first error occurred well before that.

sudo port clean dia
sudo port -d install dia

Hopefully we will then see an error message we know how to fix. :)
