Thanks for the pointer. I had missed that option.
The pre-built 2.2.9 works fine - it meets my original need to get
GnuCash up and running so I can work with my son to get him set up on
an independent financial records database.
I am still interested in getting the macports build to work, so I am
going to continue on work on that path, thanks to contributions of
Ryan Schmidt and Russell Jones.
