Just tried a self update, asked me for my password but won't let me put it in, do i have to go into port mode first?

Thanks Ryan and everyone, very impressed with all the help, to be honest the best support I have ever come across with anything, free or paid for, spot on. I wish I could help other in the forum but you guys seem way above what I know. The gimp program seems to work fantastically, much better than with the OX install package on the gimp page, that's just my opinion. So basically anytime I want to install a freeware or shareware product I do it through Macports sudo port install (name of product). Is there other stuff I can do with Macports?

Kind regards john

Here's one of them I can't open

<Verbook-xml-4.5>

I've looked at a lot of the others there 58 in all and the one's I can open are all empty like this one

<Ver---ta--->

I have no idea where these files came from. There is a port called "docbook-xml-4.5" but installing it would not create a file called "Verbook-xml-4.5" in your home directory. I guess delete them.

The only other thing if it isn't Macport that did it was I saved a copy of the terminal screen and saved it in a folder. I think this may be the culprit. In which case I can delete them?

Um, sure. :)
