This means it's failing to talk to the server at all. On 10.6.x, launchd will start the server automatically and put a special $DISPLAY in the environment to trigger it. (You may need to twiddle launchd plists if you want the MacPorts one autostarted instead of the system one; on 10.6 X11 is installed by default.) If you change $DISPLAY then things will break and you will get the above error from any X11 program unless the server happens to (a) already be running (b) on :0.0. - -- brandon s. allbery [linux, solaris, freebsd, perl] allb...@kf8nh.com system administrator [openafs, heimdal, too many hats] allb...@ece.cmu.edu electrical and computer engineering, carnegie mellon university KF8NH -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.10 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkzLTyIACgkQIn7hlCsL25Wb+QCeOXEo/LhXiqpujPEc5xR+kQh7 nsoAn3H07dag61M3pbGgesVOnt/ELfkU =84JU -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ macports-users mailing list macports-users@lists.macosforge.org http://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/macports-users
