To be honest, I'm not sure of the migration state of this system. I *think* it is correct(*), but this symptom would indicate something is a bit off kilter. I'll try the recommended procedure and see if that helps.
Thanks, Dave * The reason I think I should be good w.r.t. migration is, first off, when I did the original migration from Leopard to Snow Leopard, I *did*attempt to follow the instructions. Then some time later the hard disk seized up and was replaced -- I rebuilt ports on SnowLeopard pretty much from scratch at that point.
