Running that command will properly set the path for xcodebuild, as some packages' source code is distributed as xcode projects. Be sure to check the Problem Hotlist on the MacPorts site for all Xcode upgrade issues: https://trac.macports.org/wiki/ProblemHotlist#xcode43
