Hi, Markus and everybody!

As an elderly who only ever used Mac since starting with a Mac Classic under
System 7 in 1994, I faced a similar problem trying to use Microsoft Word 5.1a
for Mac and type up mathematical expressions using the Word "Equation Editor"
while keeping my keyboard set to Spanish. At the time, I needed to key heaps of
Spanish for adult learners of Migrant English, so I was flat-out not going to
switch out of Spanish kbd just to use that editor. I learned much later that
that Equation Editor does NOT set type the way I'm told LaTex does; instead it
assembles graphics particles. I got Ergonis`s "PopChar Lite" as soon as I heard
about it, and keep its Pro incarnation up to date. It works OK for putting
International Phonetic Alphabet symbols into iWork creations, so I guess it
might help Markus with his { and }.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

David Evans.
