Does the following work if you run rsync from the command line? > rsync rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/ drwxr-xr-x 4,096 2015/03/03 06:45:07 . -rw-r--r-- 29,763,932 2015/03/03 06:45:07 ports.tar.gz lrwxrwxrwx 16 2015/03/03 06:32:32 tarballs drwxr-xr-x 4,096 2015/03/03 06:01:44 base drwxr-xr-x 4,096 2014/10/28 01:01:34 ports drwxr-xr-x 4,096 2014/10/28 01:13:01 tarballs_current Our sysadmin is happily blocking the port for rsync in the firewall (being convinced that opening it would decrease the integrity of the network).
