That page lists numerous options for installing macports, which includes 
building from source and which is an entirely valid option. If you choose not 
to follow that route that is indeed a choice you are free totake, but then you 
will have to wait until the installer is made available. I was simply pointing 
out waiting for that installer is not a requirement, if you just follow the 
install from source instructions instead, which frankly are not at all hard to 
follow.
