About a week or two ago, I had this experience from a User point of view. I couldn't really determine why Paypal forced me to do an eCheck instead of direct payment, despite the reasons that Evan gave. I got the license once the company received the check. I was annoyed, but not at the merchant more at Paypal, since I couldn't figure out why.
