Jon Grosshart, who is also on this list, has a very detailed thread on LinuxQuestions explaining how to install slack on a mac.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=496688 He also provides a live cd which you can download which should let you get started on the installation. http://jaguarlinux.com/pub/slackware/mactel-livecd/ I haven't tried his instructions though so I can't help you any more with this. Ubuntu is one of the most popular distributions now and its also easy(ier) to setup which is why most people probably use it instead of something like slack (which I'm also quite fond of). It seems like battery usage is much worse in Linux than in OS X right now. Also you will have to use the binary ATI drivers and ndiswrapper with a binary windows driver for your network card if you have a new Core 2 Duo mac. There are lots of instructions on various sites about how to do this on different distributions: http://www.odi.ch/prog/macbookpro/index.php https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MacBookPro Good luck, Sheer On 1/23/07, Arwan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hello, I'm a newbie in this mailing list and, most of all, I'm a > newbie in mac-world. > Even if I use linux from 2000, I'm not very able with it, so I need > some help.
