I'm pretty sure that by disabling ACPI/Sleep in the kernel, > you can avoid this problem entirely. The funny thing is that there are no events whatsoever in /var/log/acpid.log, so I'm a bit stuck in tracing what is/was going on. However, from you post it appeared to me that there is one kernel option I hadn't tried yet (acpi=off, or acpi=ht, for that matter), which seems to basically have the same effect as compiling a kernel without ACPI. I used "noacpi" which apparently is useless by itself, at least according to the ACPI howto.. So I will give this a try now and pray that it helps :-) I'm a bit reluctant when it comes to compile custom kernels, not because I'm afraid of it, but because every component that I modify by myself will again be a component that I also have to maintain by myself (instead of just getting automatic updates from the distributor), which becomes more and more troublesome as the server evolves over the years ;-) Thanks & cheers Christoph ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
